I have used Wikipedia throughout my knowledge of the site. It is something that I use personally as well as academically and I will continue to do so.
As a student, knowing and relying on credible sources is a major conponent to your academic life and so, though I love Wikipedia, I am not afraid to outsource.
I think a lot of people, especially professors get carried away with the restrictive use they place on students in regards to Wikipedia. As long as it fits in the context of what it is being used for, I see nothing wrong with its use academically.
I totally agree with you if it makes sense professors shouldn't care about what you add in your paper. Wikipedia can be a useful source according to me
